I watched this earlier today—I liked it, overall.
But I must also confess , I sent the following text to one of my friends as I began the movie:
I am slightly an asshole; I’m watching “Bird Box” on Netflix, and I’m more concerned for the safety of the birds in a small box on their journey (I’m assuming as some sort of “canary in the coal mine” audible warning system) than I am for the two 5 or 6 year-old kids.

Yeah, I did check how far I was through the runtime on a couple of occasions. I'm not sure why, because the pacing doesn't seem woefully slow, and it breaks up the story nicely by jumping back and forth from the river journey and the earlier survival timeline.
